Sherlock Holmes was promoted across the 2 platforms of print, broadcast and e media. Though, the film was successfully promoted mainly through the print media. Empire magazine dedicated a whole 4 page spread and cover design to the release of Sherlock Holmes. Within the September 2009 issue of Empire, there was a behind the scenes look at the film, reviews and interviews with Robert Downey Jr, Guy Ritchie, Jude Law and the crew of the film. Alongside this, the range of novels were also some form of promotion, as the film adapted from the traditional '19th century image of Sherlock Holmes', as the clothing in the film is more modern and relatable to a modern audience.
